Launching two new planting sites in North America

At Greenr Gifts, we are committed to making the world a greener place, one tree  at a time. You've been asking for projects in the United States, and we are so excited to introduce our two new planting projects that will further our mission of environmental restoration and conservation. Joining our existing mangrove restoration project in Kenya, we now have initiatives to rebuild Oregon’s forests and kelp forests in Canada. Here’s a closer look at each of these impactful projects:

NEW: Rebuilding Oregon’s Forests

Oregon's lush, green landscapes have faced significant challenges due to the recent wildfires. This project in partnership with American Forests focuses on planting native tree species - Douglas-fir, Noble- fir and Western Red Cedar to restore these vital ecosystems, which are home to threatened and endangered species such as Deer, Elk, Black Bear, Cougar, and Spotted Owl.

It also plays a crucial role in carbon sequestration. An estimated 0.77 tonnes of CO2 is sequestered by each tree across its lifetime. In addition, this project also impacts local communities by creating employment. For every 10,000 trees planted, 40 work days are created for community members.

NEW: Seaforestation of Kelp in Canada

Our second new initiative is the seaforestation of kelp in Canada in partnership with Coastal Kelp. Kelp forests are incredibly important marine ecosystems, absorbing 20 times more CO2 per acre than land forests and supporting over 700 marine species. These underwater forests also protect coastlines by reducing wave energy by up to 60%. By planting and restoring kelp forests, we are contributing to healthier oceans and a more balanced marine ecosystem. This project also provides critical habitat and food for wildlife such as sea otters, which play a key role in maintaining the health of kelp forests by preying on sea urchins that can otherwise devastate these ecosystems. Mangrove Restoration in Kenya

Our journey of course began with the mangrove restoration project in Kenya in partnership with Earthlungs Reforestation, where the team has been working tirelessly to rehabilitate these vital coastal ecosystems. Mangroves are extraordinary for their ability to sequester up to 10 times more carbon per hectare than terrestrial forests, providing critical habitat for over 3,000 species and protecting 152,000 kilometers of coastline from erosion. Through your support, we've been able to plant thousands of mangrove trees, contributing to the fight against climate change and supporting local communities. Learn more about this project
